Apple identifies A2699 and A2698 as AirPods Pro 2nd Generation models introduced in 2022 for the MagSafe Charging Case (Lightning).
IMPORTANT: This is the 2022 Lightning-generation A2699 earbud. Please check the model numbers on your existing AirPod and charging case before purchasing a replacement.
HOW TO SET UP YOUR REPLACEMENT AIRPOD
Apple's replacement AirPod setup procedure:
1. Put both AirPods – your existing right AirPod and this replacement left AirPod – into your charging case.
2. Connect the charging case to a power source, close the lid and wait 20 minutes.
3. Open the lid and check the status light.
4. If the status light is flashing white, continue to step 5.
5. If the status light is NOT flashing white, leave the lid open and press and hold the setup button on the back of the charging case for approximately 15 seconds, until the status light flashes amber and then white.
6. When the status light is flashing white, close the charging case lid.
7. On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
8. If your AirPods appear in the Bluetooth list, tap the More Info button next to them, select Forget This Device and confirm.
9. Open the charging case lid and go to the Home Screen on your iPhone or iPad.
10. When the AirPods setup animation appears, tap Connect and then Done.
The AirPods should then be ready for use.
